ALESSANDRO PROFUMO: Far rinascere lo spirito imprenditoriale

He was born in Genoa and graduated in business economy from Bocconi University.
He began his experience in the credit sector in the Lariano bank where he worked from 1977 to 1987. In that year he became head of strategic and organization planning for the financial firm McKinsey & Company; two years later he became head of relations with financial institutions for Bain, Cuneo & Associati.
In 1991 he left the business consultancy sector to become managing director for RAS.
In 1994 he began to work for the Credito Italiano bank and, in 1997, he became CEO of the Unicredit group, a post he held until September 2010.
At an international level, he has been president of the European Banking Federation in Brussels, and of the International Monetary Conference in Washington.
In 2011 he set up an advisory society, Appeal Strategy & Finance, of which he is chairman, and he became a member of Sberbank and of the board of directors of Eni.
In 2012 He joined the European “High Level Expert Group” in order to evaluate the functioning of the EU banking sector, and of the International Advisory Board of Itau-UniBanco (Brazil).
Currently he is a councillor at Bocconi University and for the Fondazione Arnaldo Pomodoro and the TOG “Together to go” foundation.
